About The Jolly Brewer

The story of The Jolly Brewer began when our head Brewer, Penny Coles, became dissatisfied with the often bland products produced by larger breweries.  She was inspired to start a home brew supply shop, but over time her customers clamoured for her to sell her own real ale for the busy drinker.  It is from these humble beginnings that The Jolly Brewer was formed.

As word spread the hobby became a full time occupation, and we are now referenced in CAMRA’s annually updated Good Beer’s Guide and the Good Bottled Beers Guide.   Of course we’re modest people and as well as the ales we sell under our own label, we also produce branded beers for many local pubs: you may have already tried our products without being aware of it!  Micro-breweries have undergone a renaissance in the last few years, and we’re proud to have been part of that return to craft-brewing and real ales.

In short our aim as a brewery is to supply high quality real ale to the good people of the Wrexham and Chester area, in bottles, barrels and casks as required.  A full list of our many fine brews is available from the menu to the left, but we are always happy to produce specific tastes and recipes for birthdays and other events.
